Do muslims practice martial arts?

I am almost certain they don't since probably their religion prohibits it. But I am curious.





By martial arts I don't mean straping bombs onto your bodies.

Reply:i live in an islamic country, both men and women get to practice martial arts , i was seriously thinking about joining but i'm a gym person and i don't know if you include cardio kickboxing but many women do practice it , i tried it once but never got the time right for a trainer, i'm a muslim woman , my muslim friend is an athelete and her sister is a martial arts instructor .


your comment about strapping bombs was uncalled for , very rude and implies ignorance about normal every day life in a muslim community.


we don't strap bombs on our bodies , it's more likely you'll find serial killers or gang members in your area or a pedophile than a muslim strapping a bomb on his body unless the united states sent people to kill his kids and rape his daughters like the way they enforce democracy in iraq.


i'm more fearful of westerners turning out as killers and criminals esp online from the death threats i got including on yahoo than thinking oh a muslim man will kill me for being myself , getting a job or joining a gym , the same goes for women who aren't wearing hijab. i'd feel much safer in a country still not controlled by the west like saudi arabia than to be in the united states or iraq since i know following their rules won't get me killed by a crazy person the way people are killed where westerners esp.americans and brits rule.


to find your answer google saudi arabia , martial arts , a woman i know told me her brother learned martial arts more than 25 years ago in saudi arabia , i know for sure they do practice lots of sports there, i'm just not sure if women do because the gyms there are much less and maybe it's less prophitable and they are less likely to exercise , but the women who come to my country from there certainly do, the ones who wear hijab are as active in sports as well.
Reply:im pakistani and martial arts are very much accepted most of my friends male and female go to gym where there is a section for some martial arts and i as a woman took boxing

you are "certain" that islam prohibits it?? i dont know where you drew that conclusion...
