GYM OR Martial Arts?

Do you agree with this ?

I want to gain appearance -- %26gt; i go to the gym.

I want to gain the respect form the others --%26gt; i train martial arts.

and also Explain the psychological reasons why you do each one of them. Thanks.

GYM OR Martial Arts?
The gym is fine for a fitness routine that will help you tone and increase your health.

But Martial arts, in addition to it as a self defense method, teaches to respect others as well as yourself.

Then you will garner the respect you deserve.

So, if pressed, Martial Arts.. or both!
Reply:i think if u go to martial arts, u will gain appearence too.

so i will choose martial arts

:D
Reply:I dont agree with this you do both to keep fit. both will tone you up. in various ways. I think you need to think why you want to gain appearance and need respect from other before you embark on this.
Reply:I disagree.

One should be doing both in order to discipline himself and gain self respect. One cannot make others respect him. They either do or they don't at their own whim. When one has self respect, what other people think of him is of no consequence.
Reply:I think you should do both. I started with martial arts and once I got the confidence and self esteem that I needed, I had no problem going into the gym and lifting weights with the big boys even though I was skinny.
Reply:not completely and heres why. martial arts does both it just won't give you the same size results as the gym. I go to the gym for strength training yes it makes me look better and gives me size but its mainly for strength i also go to run which gives me better endurance. i do martial arts training because i enjoy it I've done it since i was little with my dad and brother. its not about the respect for me i just enjoy it and normally don't jump into the ring to do anything more than spare unless people are being dumb (ex last week new guy came and purposely hurt someone who knew less them they asked for another fight and i choked him out) as for psychological running and lifting is a stress/ anger release and martial arts is just enjoyable so it makes me happy.
Reply:Going to the gym could increase your sex appeal. Taking martial arts can increase your self-assurance, but; I don't see how either one is going to affect how others respect you. You walk into the restaurant, and nobody is going to know that you go to the gym or that you can break a board with your head. You should be doing these things for how they make you feel, not how other people treat you.
