Martial arts statistics?

Iv'e searched all over the internet and for the life of me I can't find any statistics about matial arts- related statistics.

Like, I would like to know about how many blackbelts there are in every so many americans. Or how many people even practice martial arts. ANYthing like this would be very useful, thank you.

Martial arts statistics?
That's going to be a huge undertaking and worthy of a masters thesis in any discipline. Good luck.
Reply:have you tried web sites of martial art magazines, then Emailing the editors or publishers???? hmmmmmm try that good luck
Reply:I don't think there are any such statistics. For one, there's no single governing body of all martial arts. Not even in China, where there are many family styles, untained by modern trends. Some of these are even good.

Perhaps if Universities offered degrees in Martial studies, someone would do a Master's Thesis on this. Even so, I don't know if I'd trust the numbers, because a lot of people, like me for instance, do not belong to any organizations because of the political nature.
Reply:Stats on those types of things would be to varied and unreliable.
Reply:Good LUCK!!

your best bet to get an accurate count of LEGITAMTE REGISTERED BB call organizations like the JKA, japanese karate assosication, or the Tae Kwon Do Federation and all the MAIN MAJOR organizations you can find.

Dont both with joe shmoe and his club down the street. IF they are legit they will already be in one of these organizations MOST LIKELY unless they are Ronin and thats a whole diffetant breed and subject.

Just calling schools and asking would take forever. But get the name of all the MAJOR syles..KARATE, KUNG FU, TKD, TanG SO DO, AIDIDO, JU JITSU and so on and call their main headwaurter orgnzations. See if they have a list.

WIl you have a fully accurate number NO. but you state that these numbers are bases SOLELY on registed bb in assiated legal schools within an orginazation. to track down all the others would be impossible. so this would give you an estimated number and just go higher for the ones you know are not listed.

that is how i would go about trying it.
