Which martial arts is better fighting style than boxing?

Any asian martial arts better than boxing.

I mean can any person with that type of exeperience beat a boxer in a street fight.

Which person would you rather take

1. person taking 5 years of boxing

2. or a person taking 5 years of any martial arts focused on fighting.

Which martial arts is better fighting style than boxing?
It depends on the rules of the competition!

If you are fighting by the Marquis of Queensbury rules (boxing), anybody attempting any other style will probably be disqualified!

IMO: Only idiots fight on the street!

.
Reply:Any style that focuses on a fast takedown and then ground fighting is a winner.
Reply:First poster is right. BJJ, MMA, stuff like that will beat a boxer as long as they can protect their face long enough for a clinch. Prob even muay thai since they can use their long legs and know how to avoid punches.
Reply:Ninjutsu or Shaolin Kung Fu would win
Reply:it depends on their training and the persons atitude and agressevness...lol and a lot of asian martial arts has a lot of boxing typ styles in it..... like a lot of thai cam and much more... even martial arts that are triditional trainein then they will learn how to block punch and kick ....its just how you use it that makes the styles.... like boxing they learn how to kick punck block and other martial art styles dose the same thing to... its just the way you use it.... like a lot of boxing people come to my school and you can tell.... but a lot of times when they come in to fight(cause the people that come to my school they get in to punch) i just put out a push kick and they go back or when they try to punch again i do a round house and go to the side when they are somming forward ...and if its on a street fight.. it really depends on the person... like the way im taught i know ware to hit that is the presser point and they could go down in like 2 sec .... idk you can look your on youtube and see if they have anyfights with a boxer and other martial art styles...but if i had to go agenst a boxer or a other style of martial arts ..... i would like to see ware and how they are taught... cause a lot of martial art schools these days are so fake(in the US).. they just want your money they dont care if you learn something or not.... and that could go the same way for boxing to... boxers moves fast and the boxing on tv it shows them not doin a lot of diffrent tecnecks so if you learn a few moves and you can prefect thim in that 5 years and when your in a fight you just need a few moves to help you win and get out of their.. you just need a few easy and most efected way to get your oponent on the ground...the other martial art styles..well theirs a lot and a lot of them use a sort of boxing style in it... but a lot of asian martial arts know the presser point.. cause if you know how to hurt some one you have to know how to heal thim....and that can become very efective to, so instead of useing all your power in the fight you an just hit a few places and they are down...or like other style that they are REALLY fast(that are trained that way).. so they can hit you really hard and move evey fast and the boxer can just go down befor he has the reflexes to do anything.... or others when they can block anything you throw at thim i mean anything!!! and they can just hit you back when you throw a punch and the can hurry and get in their... and others they hit really high to get you hrt really bad, they hit you to the face and that can really kill you.. and others they hit low so they can just get you on the ground and then just wrap around you and just break your bones! and others ware they dont even have to touch you to break you from the inside.... this one kung fu style they are taught to 10 student each generation because its so deadly! they can just look at you and you can go down.. or they will do a teackneek and it wont even touch you and you will go down!! and other styles they are really light and flexable and they can get on you like a monkey and filp you and they can be on the boxer the hole time and it woul be hard to get thim.... LOL ok sorry got off.... ok but if i had to go agenst an american style boxing and a martial art american style person then i might go with the boxer cause it will be more of a chalenge cause a lot of asain martial arts in the us they can even teach cause it can hurt some one really really bad and kill thim and everyone is getting a lawer on thim! lol so yeah ill go agenst the boxer!
Reply:hi i'm in martial arts and number 2 is the right answer because we don't just train our strenth we train our spirits witch makes us even more strong( yes working on our spirits actualy gives us muscles.... it's so cool) so if i were you i would do martial arts if you are interested in joining.. i would take kyukoshin karate it is one of the best ones to take..... i would know lol
Reply:A street fighter would always win

martial artists are focused on

kicks and punches

and moves

and if a street fighter takes you down youll be screwed cause in karate they dont teach you any kind of defense for takedown submissions etc.

if your a mixed martial artist thats a dif. story because they train in jui jitsu,boxing,wrestling,kick-boxin, and muay thai
Reply:i wouldnt fight either cause iam a wimp id end up crying but i do take martial arts i enjoy it it bring me into focus and iam able to concentrate my energies into my sparing matches i believe that is a very useful tool
Reply:well i would rather not fight any of them but given a choice i would fight the boxer.boxers only have two weapons martial artists have many.but then what would i know ive only been doing, teaching for 39 years and had a long career fighting. im sure all the (haha)experts on here will have a better answer.

EDIT%26gt;even just the answers to this one question some of them ive never heard so much crap in my life, you ppl must make this up in your head and then convince yourselves its true.
Reply:martial artist would win without a doubt, boxing is not very effective in a fight situation. its too one dimensional, a mixed martial artist would have tons of different attacks where boxers have very few
Reply:I would say option 2 most of the time. Basically the boxer is training to box, where as the martial artist is training for all situtions. Punch me in the head and I'll probably just get mad at you, choking me out would be easier. Plus I've seem some other guys, you could'nt knock them out unless you had a hammer or something. Also depends on who is conditioned better snd who has more rage and all, I've seen guys get hit over the head with bottles and clubs and just keep coming, I've seen guys that were so strong,, if you put a hold on them, they just pick you up and dip you.So that would be a factor to. A boxer has a big advantage if he can get of first and hit really hard, then that might affect the fight, that why if you think your in trouble, hit first, hit hard.
Reply:Pay attention to the answer Bushido gave. It actually makes sense and comes from someone with experience.
Reply:First of all, it's not necessarily true that "any asian martial art focused on fighting" is superior to western boxing. In the case of the boxer, it depends upon their agility, skill %26amp; power. In the case of the ambiguous martial artist, it depends upon the style studied as well as their proficiency. A fast, hard-hitting boxer can be just as tough an opponent when compared to the various striking arts...since in the end it comes down to who delivers the hardest, most effective strikes to bring down the opponent.

Me personally, I wouldn't fight either of them or anybody, for that matter (can't we all just get along?). But, if I had to choose in this imaginary "battle royale", I'd prefer to go against the martial artist. Why? I study Aikido (no, not the fruity-tooty version...thank you very much!), a martial art whose techniques are most effective against other asian martial arts. Why? An agile, skilled, hard-hitting boxer experienced both in the ring %26amp; on the streets is one tough monkey. He has no "style" or "form" or "kata" or "techniques" that will quantifiably predict his movements. Wheras, the various asian martial arts do.
Reply:a combination of wing chung, shing yi, and iron palm training is lterally un-stopable....
