What is the best kind of Martial Arts for me?????

I want to be in a type of Martial Arts, that involves high level of skill, intensity, heavy kicking, like round houses, back 360 degree kicks, all the spectacular stuff......and also that teaches u how to endure heavy blows....

please give me your honest opinions on which would be best for me, for what I want?????

as I went to this class today, which is solo formed Martial Arts by this guy which is formed from a variety of different martial arts styles like Taekwondo, ju jitsu, kickoxing, judo, and aikido. into a system called Shinbudo...anyone heard of it????

it seemed like was made up of the most basic moves from each of these forms of Martial Arts into one....it all sounds very good.....but I feel like its not as competitive as it should be??? know what I mean??? I dunno if its because it was my first class...but from what i gathered it seemed this way to me.......

please help

What is the best kind of Martial Arts for me?????
I took a Taekwondo class in conjunction with Ground Fighting, Kickboxing, and Cardio. In all honesty you can learn how to implement the basic techniques when necessary while having the strength and stamina to actually pull off the fancy stuff.

In all of the classes barring the Cardio we did forms of sparring, which were where the teaching showed how well you could do against another person. Often times you'd be paired up with that "one" person who's worked with you long enough to know your weak points, so all you can do is improve. The Cardio class gave me endurance that not only paid off in the other classes but as a soccer player I improved immensely!

Definitely go for a variety, don't just stick with one style. I don't know of any style that a kickboxing class wouldn't be able to complement and give outstanding results.
Reply:Wu Shu

Keep in mind though, with these 'spectacular' arts you will not achieve a degree of 'street cred' many other arts get much earlier. Don't get me wrong though, you'll be a better fighter in the long run by learning anything, but you're not going to do backflips in a real fight. So learn Wu Shu to show off, but learn Jiu Jitsu to not get your butt kicked. :)
Reply:learn most of them. there are schools which offer 8 forms of martial arts. click on the link below.
Reply:i did shorin ji martial arts which is okinawan. but i know people who really like kenpo also.

check out the sites below, hope this helps.
Reply:cross train in modern wushu and traditional kung fu (either Hung Gar or Shaolin).. the cross training would enable you to kill people and do wall runs, mid air twists, insanely high jumps, and no handed cartwheels into splits.....the traditional kf could teach you dim mak (pressure points), internal strength, fajin, and other stuff....
Reply:For flashy impressive stuff Wushu, Ninjitsu or Tae Kwon Do. For taking blows Muy Thai or boxing.
Reply:I haven't heard of that style, but in my experience, these "hybrid" schools are usually junk. Find a good tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do or Northern Shaolin school in your area.
Reply:Normally I don't specifically speak ill of a specific style, however one of the earlier answers recommended something which you probably want to avoid.

If you google Oom Yung Doe and either IRS or Cult, you will come up with some information that would in all likely hood compel you to not get involved with this group.

If you were to choose one style to study that comes reasonably close to what you are looking for (minus the flashy 360 stuff), why not look into Muay Thai.

Maybe you should try several different styles and see what you like the best; it is a journey not a race.
Reply:Well, if you want all the cool stuff, i suggest going to Tiger Schulmann's Mixed Martial Arts. We do stuff like Tornado Kicks, Spinning Crescent Kicks, Jump Spinning Crescent Kicks, Axe Kicks, Spinning Back Kicks, Jump Spinning Back Kicks, we work on flexibility, and the Senseis are awesome! We also do Muay Thai Kickboxing, Submission Grappling, and Participate in the Challenge of Champions, also known as the COC. (I won 1st place in kickboxing:P)
Reply:Have you tried Capoeira? It can be very fast and very impressive.
Reply:A good well rounded style would be freestyle Karate. You will learn stand up,ground, grappling and weapons. What a lot of people don't understand is that freestyle Karate is about practical street defence not who can kick the highest or punch a pad the hardest. It's definitely not a sport martial art like TKD or BJJ.The motto of my style is the best of everything in progression.Basically that means we don't care where the technique comes from we improve it and integrate it into our style while still maintaining tradition as do most freestyle Karate's.

The hardest thing is finding a good experienced instructor.I would recommend Bushi Kai or Zen Do Kai, but if your not in Australia or New Zealand you may have some difficulty finding some one who teaches these styles. These styles also usually have separate classes available to everyone in Muay Thai and BJJ/Submission/Shoot wrestling. If you can't find one of these i would suggest Kempo or Enshin or another freestyle Karate.
