I have a friend who as always had an interest martial arts but has never taken any classes before. She's very impatient and wants to skip right to the part where she gets her black belt. I myself am not a martial but my parents were they are both black belts . Anway shes not exactly one to commit. Though she does have 9 year experience with gymnastics which I think wil help but how she find out if this is something she can do, or in this case handle.
Question about martial arts?
She will never know unless she go and take some classes.
Reply:go take a trial class, doing some sort of martial art might help her learn to be patient. at least from being in gymnastics she should know that the only way you get any where is by working hard
Reply:The only way that she can find out is to actually try it out and attend some classes. Make sure she doesn't get hooked into a McDojo, there are plenty of answers on here about how to spot one. If she does that she might as well just go online and buy a Black Belt.
Reply:I'd have to ask her why she is focused on the destination, and not the journey...that is sort of antithetical to studying Martial Arts...

It seems like she's only seeing it from the surface. I believe she'll realize that she's not capable yet and shouldn't receive a black belt yet. Unless if she turns out to be very skilled in martial arts then I can understand her impatience.
If she doesn't like the ranking system, she can take up boxing, kick boxing, Muay Thai, or some gym that doesn't use the ranking system. Just go to a gym that just lets you go on to the next step once they see that you're capable. I think ranking system are important though.
Reply:well she is not going to take one class and be a BB so she needs to get that part out of her head. She has to take it like every one else does by starting at the beginning, and completing each set of techniques to reach her next rank. If all she is wanting is a BB then have her go on ebay and buy one
