So i'm suppose to start some mixed martial arts class soon, but i don't know if it would be great like what are the benefits of it?
Which one would you do? mixed martial art, karate, kung fu.. etc.
Mixed Martial Arts- Benefits?
Mixed martial art is not a martial art. Some mixed martial artists dont even know any martial arts.
The best thing to do if you want to go into mma is to learn those martial arts seperately. Learn boxing, jujitsu, karate, etc.. whatever. Get black belts in each and then go into training. Start doing lots of cardio and some core strength -- strength training.
If you already paid for classes then dont throw your money out, try it and see where it goes. Most likely they'll teach you some punching and ground techniques and that'll help with getting the basics down. These classes are probably not the best for self-defense, but it will help if you want do this for a sport or want to compete.
Reply:every bit of training helps. you are not limited in the amount of classes you can take. try some multiple styles. the more you learn, the more effective you will be. the benefit of training in a mixed martial arts class is that you will see a lot of different attacks and be forced to deal with each of them in (striking and grappling) in a very short time. and if you have any questions just refer to my 2 rules of life:
1) never stop learning.
2) when in doubt refer to rule #1.
Reply:Never do mixed martial arts it is to much to remember Just do one thing at a time, I am doing red boat kung fu and it is the best. There is no point learning karate for an hour then going on to the kung fu the all the rest then the next day they will probably expect you to know, if I was you do kung fu first it will help you a lot, in kung fu it is mainly hand work so after that you should go straight into karate not just karate some form of karate. Then you start to do ti jitsu and ge jong and all that other stuff, which helps with your breathing and building up strength and muscles in your body.
Reply:If you need to ask these question then in reality you are not about to start an MMA class.
There is a difference between fantasy and reality. Study that premise first.
Reply:Learn one art at a time. Try to start with Krav Maga or Jeet Kune Do or even Wing Chun. Then move on to a grappling art like Brazilain JuJItsu
Reply:I do karate but I also do MMA(mixed martial art). It helps you with self defense drop weight and other things to. I really enjoy doing mms so yea. Its really up to u If u like it.
Reply:I train with a "mixed martial arts" team in Rancho Cordova CA. I have a background in judo, jiu-jitsu, and traditional boxing. All of these help. I really recommend having some martial arts experience before stepping into a real mma gym! Why do you want to train in mma? If your goal is to fight in a ring/cage it is the best way to train. If not you may try one art to see if the martial arts are for you. I also still train with a jiu-jitsu practitioner (outside of the gym) to continue to work on my ground technique. Many of our fighters also train specific aspects outside of the gym. Hope this gives you some insight. Good luck and be safe.
