Heres a few off the top of my head Hapkido, Aikido, Sambo,Jujitsu and Judo. To name a few. These arts are defensive in nature.Hapkido is more tactical and complete in its self defense than its cousin Aikido, which follows more of a spiritual non violent approach. Now depending on which style of the last three I mentioned could either be sport oriented or tactical based. But they have high emphasis on take downs, chokes and joint locks that you asked about. I personally have practiced Hapkido for the last 10 yrs and use it on a regular basis because I am in law enforcement. So I know that it works other wise I wouldn't do it.
Reply:taikwondo (dunno if i spelt it right) and judo focus most on takedowns and submissions. hope this helps
Reply:bjj and judo.
Reply:judo
Reply:WADO KAI while being an okinawan kempo art was founded and adapted by a jujutsu master .Individual instructors may not emphasize the jujutsu aspect however so you should ask 1st.
Reply:It defetally has to be Judo and Jujitsu. They are all grapples and takedown, and summisions.I reamember when I was a little boy and I did the triagulere choke and I won.So then i went to Judo, and we had a tornoment, and I won with a Gietine Choke.Ya,so it has to be Judo and Jujitsu.
Reply:Catch wrestling, judo.

These 2 arts emphasize in what you are looking for, locks, submission, takedowns.

Judo has great throws, as well as standing and ground grappling.

Catch wrestling is different from freestyle of greco-roman, as they also have throws, takedowns and submissions, 2 great catch wrestlers are Josh Barnett and Kasushi "the Gracie hunter" Sakuraba.

good luck!
Reply:Jiu Jitsu.

This martial art is almost all ground work, take downs, locks, and throws.

Some others that include this style are Judo (mainly throws), Aikido (a lot of locks), Hapkido (like Aikido).
Reply:as many ppl have said...

judo and aikido (both japanese) are good sports.

hapkido (korean) is good also.

they are mostly grappling type martial arts but with the focus on counter-attacks based upon your opponents' movement.

flowers get well
